Taking You To A New Voyage Of Imagination

On of the most famous sci-fi TV series ever shown is Star Trek. In fact, the series is still very much popular today as when it was first shown in the sixties. And with a series with such a huge following, one can expect it to spawn numerous sequels and spinoffs.

Star Trek Voyager is one of the those sequels that aired after Star Trek become a hit. It was actually the fourth series made after the original one. The show was also notable as the first Star Trek TV series that employed computer generated imagery (CGI) in it's run. CGI totally replaced the used of scale models when filming the outer space scenes.

The series' premise follows the crew of the fictional spaceship USS Voyager as they travel the Milky Way galaxy in pursuit of an enemy spaceship. As with the other series in the franchise, each episode has the crew encountering and helping the alien races that they encounter in the planets that they visit. The conflicts between crew member is also still pretty much part of the show.

The series is notable in that it was the first series to feature an entirely new spaceship instead of the iconic USS Enterprise. The cast is also composed of new characters, with characters from the previous three series regularly appearing. The series also have many other first for the franchise, including the first female lead character to be the captain of the spaceship.

Arguably, one of the biggest things that draw many fans to Star Trek is the variety of fictional alien races that it features. And to this part, Voyager doesn't fail. The original crew have been complemented with newer races, with humans and Klingons still much present. There are also several new races presented outside of the crew. And interestingly, the differences between the races aren't merely cosmetic. The producers have gone to great lengths to present the fictional culture that each and everyone of these have. This definitely add a great deal to the voluminous Star Trek material that almost all of us remember today.

And story telling that also launched Star Trek into recognition by countless fans is still very much here. The conflicts presented still preserved the idea of Star Trek being the metaphor for real world issues. The presentation of the main characters is also very deep, which leads to an engaging story.

While the CGI seen in the series might considered very old by today's standards (the series was shown in 1995), they are still very much impressive. Also, the set designs are really well executed. This adds a lot to the realism of the show, which is a plus point to many viewers.

So for both fans and non-fans alike, the Star Trek Voyager DVD is definitely one set that you would want to have. The show will surely get you hooked in all of its episodes.

As the filmmaker, Harold Ramis confirmed about developing a new sequence of the Ghostbusters .This time, the roles will be different. New young Ghostbusters will be introduced, according to Ramis. The Emmy-nominated writing team of Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky are in charge to write for the movie's screenplay. He also mentioned that his consulting the original director of the movie, Ivan Reitman and Dan Aykroyd.

Aykroyd says he believes the movie will move forward but that he has also learned that "at any second everything could blow up." The details of story are still in play, but Aykroyd said he's hoping for a five-member "new generation" team with several female members. "I'd like it to be a passing-of-the-torch movie.

Let's revisit the old characters briefly and happily and have them there as family but let's pass it on to a new generation."

Who does Aykroyd think would be good in the jumpsuits? Aykroyd mentioned two names, Alyssa Milano (who is a voice in the upcoming "Ghostbusters" video game) and Eliza Dushku. "I think they're amazing," he said. "And I'm excited about the whole idea of getting this done."

Rumors spreading that the original casts (Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Sigourney Weaver) are agreed to participate in the much awaited sequel as mentors. As of this moment, nothing is confirmed about their special appearances but it's final that the new Ghostbuster will start filming in winter.

Original story was made in the late eighties (80s), a script written by Dan Aykroyd. He was interested in paranormal activity, thinking if the ghosts were real and a team of experts (so called, scientists) might deal with them (as their customers? or as their enemies?--yeah, both!). The first installment of the film was released in 1984 and considered as one of the most high-tech visual effects film on that time. The second installment of the film was released in 1997, entitled "Extreme Ghostbusters," and a decade ago, a TV series was launched and reformatted to make more appealing to the younger audiences, "Slimer and the Real Ghostbusters," the animated series.

So, if there's something strange in your neighborhood, Who ya gonna call?
I am hoping for a remake of the soundtrack.

Are we going to see Slimer and Marshmallow man in 3D? Let's find out.

Comparing the Two Hulks

incredible hulk tv seriesThe Incredible Hulk is one of the most imposing characters in comics history to date. The character is also very popular among fans, too popular in fact that the name has been associated to anything that is similar to the Hulk.

And as with any other other popular comic book characters, the Incredible Hulk was bound to have spin-offs in other media. Thus, there are several cartoons released by Marvel (who created the title) over the course of its history. There was also a live action TV Series (yes, a show with real actors!) in the 70's, which is in fact the one of the most famous adaptations. And then there are the movies.

While the TV series was aired way back in the seventies, it took more than three decades to get a movie on the works. This one is particularly attributed to the lack of special effects capabilities back then. Banner only rips his clothes and turned green in the TV series, not changing in size.

To date, there are two movies produced on the Hulk. The Hulk was shown 2003, while the Incredible Hulk was shown in 2008. interestingly, both films are not sequels of each other. Instead they are alternate takes on the Hulk's origin story.

incredible hulk the movieThe first Hulk film was directed by Ang Lee, known for Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Consistent on Lee's style, the film presented a more psychological and emotional take on how Banner became the hulk. Thus the story is somewhat more concerned on the inner struggles of Banner as the Hulk. than with action. It would also be interesting to note that Lee's body movements were the ones used for the Hulk.

On the other hand, the 2008 movie did a more straightforward action movie and focused less on psychology. The movie was also much closer to the TV series than the first one. This, many say, is more closer to the Hulk of the comics than the other one.

Aside from story treatment, the most notable differences is the depiction of the Hulk. The first movie is pretty much closer to the original comics. However, his appearance is consider by some as being too close to the point that it looked cartoonish. On the other hand, the second film's version uses a less saturated color, making his appearance more life-like. The edge of the first version over the second is more dramatic movements (since it's based on Ang Lee's), which some compare to the ones seen in King Kong.

There is actually no way to say which one is better. People wanting to see a much deeper story to the Hulk would probably go for the first one. On the other hand, those looking for fast paced action will go for the second. Any which way you think it though, both movies are definitely a delight to watch.

Quotes from Seth Rogen at Comic-Con San Diego about the upcoming film in the making:

Rogen: I mean there’s going to be some humor in it. We’re looking at movies like True Lies, I don’t know if you remember that movie. But kind of like movies where the action is taken as seriously as it can be, but like the relationships between the characters are funny, I mean, like Beverly Hills Cop, movies like that, Midnight Run. Those are the movies we’ve been talking about. But kind of the superhero version of that so it will just be bigger and more action and kind of a slightly heightened reality, I guess, because there’s guys in masks and shit like that.

Additional update that famous Korean Actor, Kwon Sang-Woo will be playing as Kato. Until now, nothing is confirmed among these speculations.
